"THIS MACHINE KILLS HIPSTERS II"

These twenty pieces are mostly paintings I made during May and June of this year. I set up my studio under the car port of my new home in Joshua Tree,  which is out in the country and has more space around it than where I used to live.   You'll be able to see some of the colors I used on the interior walls because the left over paint is all over these pieces. To make this batch of guitars, I also used found wood, recycled furniture parts, chalk, acrylics, oils, pastel, and spray paint.

Woody Guthrie, of course, wrote THIS MACHINE KIL LS FACISTS on his guitar. I had a Spanish guitar years ago that said THIS MACHINE KILLS A&R MEN. Today, I have an electric guitar that says THIS MACHINE KILLS APATHY. The songwriter Cameron McGill has one that says THIS MACHINE KILLS HIPSTERS. You can take it however you like. We're all in the creative world together, stumbling around and making something like art and music and poetry and hopefully doing the best THAT we can do. It's not rocket science, it's folk art, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of doing it in between all the rambling and home remodeling and plain old lazy days in the desert.
